St. John Bosco

For over 30 years, the St. John Bosco Clinic has provided essential healthcare to underserved individuals in Miami-Dade, supported by volunteer physicians, staff, and generous community partners. The clinic serves people of all backgrounds who share a common need for accessible medical care.

Founded in 1992 to support uninsured families, the clinic has grown from a small operation into a full-service facility offering care five days a week, including evenings and weekends. Now located at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, it continues to be a vital resource for those who cannot access healthcare on their own.

Mission:

To serve the basic primary medical needs of the uninsured and underserved children and adults in Miami-Dade County, without regard to the person's race, age, gender, ethnicity or religious affiliation, in the manner of Jesus, who healed.

Success Story

In 2023, a 53-year-old man visited the St. John Bosco Clinic after suffering a stroke caused by hypertension and uncontrolled diabetes. In 2024, elevated PSA levels suggested possible prostate cancer, and after being referred to a volunteer community urologist, he was officially diagnosed. While the urologist provided treatment, the clinic’s staff handled the necessary paperwork through a prescription assistance program, ensuring he received chemotherapy at no cost. In May 2024, a CT scan revealed a tumor in his kidney, and after consultations between volunteer providers, he was referred for further evaluation, where it was determined to be benign. By June 2025, his A1C had improved to 6.2%, allowing him to discontinue insulin and avoid future injections, and he is expected to complete his prostate cancer treatment by the end of 2025.
